Where was the first speed dating event held?
Historians, as well as people simply interested in fun facts, would be interested to know that the first speed dating event ever held was done at Peet's Cafe in Beverly Hills in late 1998. The event was not organized by LA First Dates, as we were founded in 2007, but we love fun facts and wanted to share this bit of speed dating history with our members.
We do not know who organized the event, but we imagine it was Rabbi Yaacov Deyo of Aish HaTorah who is credited by some as being the first person to come up with speed dating as a concept.
Who started speed dating - Answer: Rabbi Yacoov Deyo of Aish HaTorah
Some agree that speed dating, as a concept, was started by Rabbi Yaacov Deyo of Aish HaTorah, who wanted to help single Jewish people in his community to meet. The term "SpeedDating" as one-word is a trademark of Aish HaTorah.
Today, hundreds of companies and individuals organize variations of speed dating events. LA First Dates is one of the leaders in popularizing this new method of dating. We hold events every week for single people of all backgrounds, ages, and interests to meet.

LA First Dates is not affiliated in any way with Rabbi Yaacov Deyo or Aish HaTorah. We have conceptualized and today promote our own brand of dating: "LA First Dates."
